The T10 M was introduced
in 1957 as the final variants of the T10 family, with the addition of
the longer M-62-TS gun wich had better
armour penetration than earlier D-25, about 185mm at 1000 metres, using
the normal armour piercing round. The T-10M also
substituted KPVT 14.5mm co-axial and anti-aircraft machine guns.The KPVT
was a closer ballistic match for the new M-62 gun,
and so could be used for rough ranging.By the time production stopped in
1962, about 8000 T-10 of all versions had been
manufactured, making it numerically the most significant tank of the
Stalin series.
